Overview
The Research Assistant 1 will be responsible for coordinating the logistics and data collection for focus groups and one-on-one interviews as part of the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) Protecting Oregon Farm workers (POF) Healthier Oregon/Oregón más saludable outreach evaluation. Duties include assisting with IRB protocol preparation, communicating with OHA and community partners to schedule focus groups and interviews, data collection, managing transcription of qualitative data, and participating in data analysis.
The RA1 will work under the direct supervision of the PI (Dr Blair Darney) and the study team. This position requires a bi-cultural (member of Mexican, Latia American, or farm worker community), bi-lingual (Spanish) individual with previous experience in data collection with Mexican and Mexican-Americans.
- Assist in preparation of IRB protocol. Including: reviewing and contributing to focus group and interview guides, translation, preparing study flyers, responding to questions from the IRB
- Communicate via email and/or whatsapp/text with OHA and community partners to schedule focus groups and interviews
- Conduct focus groups on-site or remotely, depending on community partner preference. Conduct one-on-one interviews remotely. Ensure that data are recorded and secure.
- Current undergraduate student
- 2 or more years of public health research experience
- Experience with literature review, IRB, data collection, storage, and entry
- Experience building research collaborations with government and/or community partners
- Bi-cultural (member of Mexican, Latia American, or farm worker community)
- Bi-lingual (Spanish)
Some travel via car may be required for data collection
