Overview

Foreman position located in Gilroy, CA for Terracare Associates — A Monarch Landscape Company. • Responsible for the direction of crew activities on job site, according to pre-established schedules, standards, and procedures to provide a high quality of service, as directed by the Operations Manager.

• Experience
  • At least 3-5 years of commercial landscape experience required
• License or Certification
  • Valid driver license issued by the state where employed is strongly preferred
  • Pesticide License issued by the state where employed or ability to obtain within one year

• Ability to safely operate commercial landscape equipment and tools
• Demonstrate proper pruning techniques while considering plant material and season
• Understand fertilization basics for both turf and plants
• Working knowledge of herbicide applications and relevant practices
• Understanding of annuals installation and maintenance
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Ability to motivate and lead subordinates
• Strong commitment to high quality work and customer service
• Ability to read and understand maps for navigation and job planning
• Basic understanding of smartphone apps related to work requirements
• Ability to communicate in English/Spanish; bi-lingual preferred but not required
• Ability to communicate effectively with crew members and Area Manager
• Apply common sense to carry out tasks; handle standardized situations with occasional variables

• Frequently climbs trees above 15 feet; works on branches or truck platforms

• Understand and implement site-specific job specifications
• Assign daily tasks to crew members and ensure compliance
• Perform landscape maintenance tasks (mowing, edging, blowing, bed grooming, pruning, fertilizing, leaf pickup)
• Execute seasonal operations calendar
• Monitor sites for quality and follow up with crews on performance improvements; communicate concerns to area manager
• Oversee minor enhancement projects at crew level
• Complete daily paperwork timely and accurately
• Assess equipment operation issues and communicate repair needs to shop personnel
• Supervise safe loading/unloading of equipment
• Assist Area Manager with training of crews to ensure understanding of tasks and opportunities for advancement
• Assess skill level and work behavior; provide recommendations for development and promotions
• Ensure adherence to company policies
• Maintain positive work relationships with Area Manager, peers, and subordinates
• Perform minor irrigation repairs and maintenance (timers/controllers)
• Promote safety and ensure proper PPE usage
• Perform minor in-field maintenance and repairs of equipment
• Communicate when budgeted hours do not align with actual hours
