Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Locum Adult Stroke Speech and Language Therapist to join our team at Medway Community Healthcare in Kent. This role involves providing specialist speech and language therapy within the Inpatient Stroke Rehabilitation Unit, with a focus on assessing and devising treatment plans for patients recovering from stroke.

Responsibilities

As a Band 6/7 Locum Adult Stroke Speech and Language Therapist you will be responsible for delivering high-quality assessment and intervention for patients who have experienced a stroke. Your key tasks will include conducting detailed evaluations of communication and swallowing difficulties, formulating and implementing effective treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs, and monitoring progress throughout the rehabilitation process. You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure integrated care and optimal outcomes for patients.

Additionally, as part of the role, you may be required to visit patients in the community, so a valid driving license and access to a car are essential. This aspect of the role will involve assessing and supporting patients in their home environments to continue their rehabilitation journey effectively.

Key Requirements
  • Relevant qualification in Speech and Language Therapy
  • Experience in stroke rehabilitation
  • Ability to develop and implement individualised treatment plans
  • Must be a car driver with access to a vehicle for community visits
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • HCPC Registered
