Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 12-hour shift position caring for a diverse high-acuity patient population with ventilator and cardiac support experience required.
Responsibilities- Work in an ICU/CCU unit with 11 beds in a hospital setting
- Cares for ICU and telemetry patients of all ages, including ventilated, post-cardiac cath, sepsis, COPD, trauma, post-op surgical, DKA, and limited neuro cases
- Occasional care of pediatric patients such as RSV and DKA
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 2-3 patients per nurse
- Uses Meditec for charting, medication bedside verification, ventilators, BiPAP, Swan-Ganz catheters, Phillips monitors, IV pumps, and transvenous pacers
- 12-hour night shifts with consideration for day/night rotation
- No routine call required, but may be asked occasionally
- Support staff includes lab, radiology, CPS, 24-hour hospitalist coverage, and eICU support
- Three shifts of orientation provided with an ICU RN preceptor on the floor
- Navy scrubs required as dress code
- May float to L&D if experienced, but this is not required
- Will assist with pediatric patients but will not be the primary RN for pediatric assignments
- Applicants are expected to work as part of a multidisciplinary team in a high-acuity environment
- Active WY or compact RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS or ENPC certifications required
- Minimum of 1 year recent ICU experience required
- Ability to care for a wide range of critical and telemetry patients, including ventilator management and EKG interpretation
- Tele experience required
