ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs troubleshooting, installations and inspections of customer equipment using testing and diagnostic equipment.
- Installs, removes, repairs, and/or replaces components and parts on machines and electrical systems, including repairing or replacing wiring harnesses.
- Following company standards for work quality safety and cleanliness.
- Primary use of a computer to connect to and configure or update caterpillar components as well as prepare and submit accurate service reports within established time frames.
- Works directly with customers and supervisory staff in a professional manner to maintain workflow and meet production requirements.
- Reads and interprets parts books, service manuals, and electrical system schematics.
- Must be able to accurately provide written estimates to customers for installation and repairs of technology equipment.
- Operates industrial equipment to ensure proper operation following service and/or repair.
- Regularly reviews data from the troubleshooting and inspection process to work up detailed, accurate and cost-effective job estimates.
- Work up detailed and accurate parts orders.
- Vocational/technical school training in diesel technology or equivalent experience required.
- Caterpillar product-specific training preferred.
- Valid drivers’ license required (driving record must meet company insurance standards; driving record is reviewed annually).
- Experience performing maintenance and repair on multiple types of construction/mining equipment, power systems, and heavy industrial/diesel engines and hydraulic systems is required.
- Strong knowledge of electrical theory and systems, familiarity with light and heavy equipment.
- High degree of demonstrated mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving ability
- Ability to safely perform work.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate effective use of available resources.
- Ability to operate a wide variety of tools and equipment.
- Ability to work with customers, vendors, and coworkers in a safe and courteous manner.
- Ability to safely operate motor vehicles and job‑related equipment.
- Ability to demonstrate professional verbal and written communications skills (including reading, writing, and understanding English).
- Basic math computation skill.
- Advanced computer skills including knowledge of GPS systems and IP address architecture schemes.
- Rajant Radio knowledge.
- Direct experience with Caterpillar equipment preferred.
- Knowledge of mining production processes, GPS, Radio and networking.
- A background in electronics, technology, information technology or computer science is preferred.
- Will use hand/power tools, measuring tools, personal computer, mobile phone, overhead crane/hoist, lifting slings/chains, electronic testing equipment, hydraulic testing equipment, oxy/acetylene torch and welders, other specialized tools and equipment, personal protective equipment/clothing.
Will be in primarily outdoor environments with moderate to loud noise levels. - Standing for long periods on concrete or other hard surfaces; walking over rough and uneven terrain.
- Sitting and driving a vehicle for long periods.
- Frequent bending, kneeling, squatting, and climbing.
- Frequent use of ladders and steps for accessing equipment.
- Frequent lifting up to 50lbs with or without assistance.
- Frequent use of hands for simple grasping, pushing, pulling, manipulating tools/objects, and writing/typing.
- Frequent exposure to all outdoor weather conditions.
- Frequent exposure to substances, including/not limited to: industrial chemicals, hydraulic fluid, grease, oil and dirt.
- Exposure to dangerous environments, including mine sites and construction sites required.
- Overtime, varying schedules, and overnight stays away from home may be required.
- Must maintain clean driving record.
