JOB SUMMARY
The Life Safety Coordinator will be responsible for servicing and maintaining CCH facilities life safety equipment and fixtures within the facilities. The Life Safety Coordinator will use acceptable work practices and follow hospital and departmental guidelines to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients, staff, and visitors. The role of the Life Safety Coordinator is to deliver technical procurement activities in a multidisciplinary capacity.
This position provides technical advice, research, and procurement of engineering supply items for major projects, repairs, and compliance reporting for DNV. The Life Safety Coordinator provides leadership and direction to facility engineers, including department goals, work orders, preventive maintenance, and promoting teamwork. This position is responsible for maintaining all the facilities' locks and keys, including key cutting, pinning core, key control, and installation of all locks and door hardware.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs unscheduled/ corrective maintenance on the building and other assigned hospital work orders.
- Ensures that all Life Safety Code requirements are met through scheduling of inspections and other required maintenance throughout the CCH facilities.
- Maintains records for all CCH facilities to ensure that all Life Safety work is completed per DNV /code requirements.
- Hold fire drills for occupants, advising them of fire-safe design elements (e.g. fire doors, separations, sprinklers), practice improvements, and patient safety strategies.
- Investigate unscheduled fire alarms, determining cause and making recommendations.
- Makes equipment rounds to check equipment assigned for operation and safety.
- Complies with the hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures
- Be able to pin and key a master key system
- Install and maintain all door hardware
- Maintain key control computer software
- Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.
