This position is 7 hours/day and 187 days/year.
This position is open until filled.
The purpose of the Vocational Job Coach is to act under the direction of the building principal and the vocational special education teacher, assisting with job/work experience opportunities for students who meet program criteria, maintaining liaisons with community leaders and organizations, and providing information and/or direction to students.
Essential Functions- Collaborates with teacher and the employer to provide a variety of strategies to meet the educational needs of the students assigned for on-the-job training.
- Maintains records, schedules, files, etc. to document and provide reliable information.
- Maintains liaisons with employers, community leaders, and organizations to build resources and expand program capabilities.
- Participates in training and in-service meetings including a defensive driving course.
- Prepares documents (e.g., attendance forms, student evaluation forms) to communicate information to staff, students, and community and comply with program requirements.
- Promotes positive public relations with the community and within the school district.
- Provides continual supervision at the job site, including transfer to and from the site, ensuring student safety and preventing liability issues.
- Transports students for safe travel to training sites.
- Assists other personnel, as required, to ensure an efficient and effective work environment.
Minimum Qualifications
SKILLS: Operating standard office equipment and pertinent software applications; preparing and maintaining accurate records.
KNOWLEDGE: Basic math including fractions, percents, ratios; reading manuals; writing documents following prescribed formats; presenting information; analyzing situations.
ABILITY: Scheduling activities or meetings; gathering or collating data; using basic job‑related equipment; flexibility in working with others; problem solving; maintaining confidentiality; attention to detail; communicating with diverse groups; managing frequent interruptions; meeting deadlines; teamwork.
ResponsibilityWorking under direct supervision using standardized routines; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; operating within a defined budget; utilizing resources from other work units; continually impacting the organization’s services.
Working EnvironmentPhysical demands include some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; fine finger dexterity. General job requires 15% sitting, 40% walking, and 45% standing in a minimally variable temperature, hazard‑free environment.
ExperienceJob-related experience is required.
EducationHigh School diploma or equivalent.
Certificates & LicensesValid Driver’s License and Evidence of Insurability.
Continuing Education / TrainingComplete a defensive driving course to operate a school vehicle.
ClearancesCriminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
