Overview
Nursing Leader and Advocacy Personal and Professional Accountability
Accountability is the ability of someone to be aware of his/her actions a nurse and be responsible. It is also defined as a habit, which one should have, in accordance to doing what is expected and what is required of him or her in the society or rather as a nurse. However, the concept is associated with some strengths and weaknesses.
When people are accountable in their workplace, one can make others trust them in whatever they do. Some people can misuse this privilege (Peltzer et al., 2016). In addition, when one is accountable in life it means he/she is focused in carrying out his/her work with a lot of confidence and have an objective to achieve in a professional way.
Accountability also makes people be self-driven because they can train themselves towards their target in life. The concept relates to doing good for oneself and the society especially when nobody is watching what we are doing.
However, some aspects may make an individual not to achieve what he/she wants and not to be liable for his/her actions like time management. If one cannot keep time, he/she will not achieve the goals and targets at the workplace.
Career PlanningCareer planning is deciding on what one wants to do in life and working hard towards it. It is associated with strengths and weaknesses. For instance, it gives one an opportunity to have a wider knowledge about different opportunities and the manner he/she can adjust towards fitting into a certain field of operation. In addition, career planning helps the employees in an organization in this case nurses to be satisfied in their jobs and be committed in their duties.
It also helps an organization to achieve their goals because they have very competent employees who are specialized in different fields or who have the basic knowledge in various fields and can work hard to improve the organization. Career planning is very important because it can motivate the employees to work hard in their various fields to attract promotion to a higher level at the workplace or salary increment.
Various factors can make someone s career planning an ineffective process. When time is considered as a factor, an organization may not be willing to be patient enough to wait for some achievement, which will be achieved after a very long period.
