Job Summary:
Revenue Cycle Billing Specialist completes accurate and timely essential tasks within the revenue cycle management department in addition to supporting other company strategies and goals. This position serves to be essential in providing outcome-based performance for the department by completing tasks effectively and efficiently, and rebilling denied claims appropriately and timely. Other supportive functions may include assisting other intercompany or third-party vendors in tasks which influence positive outcomes of the revenue cycle management department.
Occasional to frequent communication may occur with patients, families, contracted facility staff, insurance payers and third party vendors which requires a high degree of customer service and professionalism.
The Billing Specialist reports to the Revenue Cycle Manager. This position supports the organization by providing focused task performance and high-level outcomes related to revenue cycle process in accordance with Local, State and Federal laws and regulations.
Essential Functions- Completes accurate & timely billing and rebilling of claims in third party billing system to include payer information, working denials, rejections, and other errors.
- Research payers and patient for updates as necessary.
- Updates Electronic Medical Record demographics as appropriate.
- Positively contributes to department outcomes-based performance.
- Completes any required training and optimizes performance of all tasks.
- Efficiently & effectively manages time.
- Participates in continuous process improvement to assist department and company achievement of goals.
- Exhibits a high degree of customer service and professionalism.
- Follows standard operating procedures.
- Assists in other duties as assigned.
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications as well as medical office software.
- Experience in healthcare billing, adjustments, and remittance research.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced multi-task environment.
- Possess the ability to positively approach all department related tasks to meet or exceed departmental goals.
- Possesses or proactively obtains knowledge of payers, billing, and regulatory compliance required for job related activities and performance.
- Possess or proactively obtains considerable knowledge of revenue cycle processes required for job related activities and performance.
- Strong collaborative skills that foster positive performance to achieve or exceed department goals.

- Experience in billing states of CA, OR, SC, GA, and OK but not required.
