Overview

Responsibilities- Process and care for subjects in custody for court proceedings by providing meals and, when needed, contacting staff for medical issues.
- Verify identification of persons in custody.
- Fingerprint prisoners.
- Complete a variety of reports, prisoner counts, facility and vehicle inspections as part of documenting daily shift activities.
- Observe, inspect, and monitor jail conditions, including cleanliness and orderliness of jail cells, to comply with prescribed operating and safety standards and safeguard against potential hazards.
- Transport prisoners to and from the county jail and municipal courts.
- Actively participate as a team member to move the team toward the completion of goals and produce quality outcomes.
- Demonstrate a commitment to safety philosophy, proactively managing time and resources to ensure work is completed efficiently while accomplishing objectives and exceeding expectations.
Starting rate: $24.21 per hour
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be 18 years of age and able to successfully complete a specified Corrections/Detention Officer Basic Training Academy.
- Must be able to comply with Arizona P.O.S.T. firearms requirements.
- Works in a 24/7 environment; may be required to work overtime, including nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
Starting range: $25.89–$37.54 per hour
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two (2) years of experience handling prisoners as a Detention Officer, Corrections Officer, Police Officer, or other related classification, OR one (1) year as a Town of Gilbert Detention Transport Trainee.
- Must be 21 years of age and able to comply with Arizona P.O.S.T. firearms requirements.
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the necessary knowledge and abilities.
- Valid Arizona Driver's License.
- Works in a 24/7 environment; may be required to work overtime, including nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a thorough criminal justice background investigation, including psychological and polygraph examinations.
