Senior Estimator

Job Description

Swain Electric, Inc., a family owned commercial and industrial electrical contractor in the Arizona market is accepting applications for the position of Senior Estimator. This is a hands‑on role in the corporate office that will work directly with project managers and supervises a team of 1-2 estimators.

The base salary is $85,000 to $115,000 DOE, plus bonus. Benefits include health insurance, matching 401(k) and profit sharing plan, and paid time off.

• Manages and prioritizes workflow in the estimating department.
• Prepares estimates by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
• Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
• Computes costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.
• Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
• Presents prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.
• Communicate with trade partners and team members regard new and current projects.
• Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Manage bid pricing from all vendors and subcontractors.
• Maintains cost data base by entering data and connecting to supplier databases.
• Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing technical publications.
• Establish and maintain working relationship with customers, vendors and subcontractors.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

• 5 plus years of estimating experience on commercial and / or industrial electrical construction projects.
• Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in Accounting, Applied Science, Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• Proficient in Bluebeam Revue and Microsoft Office software.
• Significant experience with electrical estimating software.
• Able to read architectural plans and develop cost estimates.
• Strong understanding of construction processes.
• Ability to organize data.
• Detail oriented and the ability to review work product from the 30,000 ft level.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
