The Test & Burn-in Department Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all testing operations for our products, including management of the electronics testing department's 'Burn-in Room'. This role ensures that all electronic assemblies, sub-systems, and finished products meet stringent quality and performance standards before shipment. The supervisor will lead a team of test technicians, manage workflow, maintain calibration compliance, and drive continuous improvement in testing processes.
This role requires hands‑on leadership, strong cross‑functional coordination, and a quality‑first mindset to help us meet the growing demands of our public safety, traffic, industrial, and OEM customers.
- Supervise, train, and coach test technicians to meet performance standards and development goals.
- Coordinate daily workload and resource allocation to align with production and engineering priorities.
- Cultivate a culture of ownership, safety, quality, and continuous improvement in the test department.
- Oversee execution of test procedures across product lines including LED lightbars, sirens, traffic control systems, and custom assemblies.
- Manage the Burn‑in Room for extended stress testing, thermal cycling, and reliability screening of finished goods.
- Validate test methods and maintain test documentation, including work instructions and failure analysis reports (FARs).
- Collaborate with engineering on troubleshooting test failures, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Support the design, build, and upkeep of automated and manual test fixtures and burn‑in racks.
- Ensure calibration of all test and measurement equipment in compliance with internal Quality Management System (QMS) and maintain calibration logs, certificates, and test data for audit readiness and traceability.
- Drive adherence to Quality Management System (QMS) and safety procedures.
- Identify testing inefficiencies, quality escapes, or rework loops and lead resolution initiatives.
- Partner with production and engineering to improve throughput and reduce test cycle times.
- Provide input on Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and Requests (ECRs) impacting test processes, including New Product Introduction (NPI) readiness.
- Maintain accurate records of test results, department KPIs, failure trends, and calibration status.
- Report on departmental performance to operations leadership, highlighting opportunities and risks.
- Lead RMA/failure analysis in collaboration with service, customer support, and engineering teams.
- Strong understanding of electronic component testing and procedures.
- Ability to solder through‑hole and surface mount.
- Strong leadership ability for a small team, able to communicate, coach, lead, and develop individuals at all levels beneath them.

Skills & Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience.
- 3–5 years of experience in electronics testing or manufacturing.
- 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of electronic circuits, LED systems, and test methodologies.
- Familiarity with calibration standards and test equipment.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Background in emergency vehicle lighting, industrial signaling, or traffic safety systems is preferred.
- Experience in ISO 9001‑certified, high‑mix/low‑volume electronic products manufacturing environments is preferred.
