Job Summary and Responsibilities
Dignity Health Medical Group is seeking a passionate and dedicated Program Director (PD) to join our Family Medicine Residency Program in Gilbert, Arizona with Creighton University East Valley Arizona. Primary participating sites are Dignity Health Mercy Gilbert Medical Center and Dignity Health Chandler Regional Medical Center. This is an opportunity to contribute to the development of future family physicians and shape the future of primary care.
Our Residency Program:
- Newly established program, accredited 2022
- Welcomed first class of residents June 2023 (filled all positions in the National Match 2023, 2024, 2025)
- Innovative training model featuring two week mini blocks, POCUS, full spectrum family medicine and team based care
- Brand new practice center across from Mercy Gilbert Medical Center
- New Women & Children s Pavilion wing at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center coming
- Part of a department of academic family medicine with scholarly activity, research and innovation including peer-reviewed publications and presentations
- ACGME approved to increase complement to 24 residents; plan to add a rural/underserved training track; eventual complement 30 starting July 2029
Responsibilities:
- Outpatient (Inpatient and/or Ob optional for PD)
- Outpatient Mon-Fri days, Inpatient/Nursery Tue-Mon days
- Call 1:4 or less (by telephone; residents are first call)
- Outpatient: 12 patient-facing hours, 12 hours of precepting, 16 hours of non-clinical teaching and admin per week (per ACGME)
- Inpatient (optional for PD):
Every 4th week or less frequently with residency supervision, 1 week at a time x 7 days with compensation days; no outpatient duties during inpatient week - Avg 18-24 patients per day on outpatient days
- Strong MA support + RN onsite
- Academic appointment at Creighton University School of Medicine, Phoenix-Open rank based on experience and output
- Teaching medical students, PA students and other learners when seeing patients
- Opportunities to engage in sponsor and investigator initiated research
PD Responsibilities:
- Lead curriculum development, implementation and evaluation in line with ACGME and Creighton/Department mission
- Lead resident recruitment and selection
- Provide mentorship and advising to residents
- Contribute to faculty development programs
- Lead program evaluation and quality improvement initiatives
- Provide clinical supervision as applicable
- Engage in scholarly activity (research, presentations, publications)
- Administrative responsibilities including scheduling, documentation, reporting; ensure alignment with policies
- Ensure compliance with ACGME requirements and regulations

Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- MD or DO or foreign equivalent; board certification in Family Medicine
- Minimum faculty appointment as an assistant professor; associate/full professor preferred
- Experience in GME curriculum and program development or leadership in the discipline
- Experience in research and scholarly activity (presentations or publications) in the past two academic years
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; community engagement and outreach
- Commitment to research, leadership, diversity and social justice
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in medical education leadership at academic medical centers or medical schools
- Strong communication, interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse teams
