Whatwe are looking for
Roots Management Group is seeking a detail‑oriented and analytical Utility Analyst to support the performance and efficiency of utility operations across our nationwide portfolio. This role will analyze utility consumption trends, support billing accuracy, identify cost‑saving opportunities, and collaborate with field teams to optimize recapture performance and operational effectiveness.
Responsibilities will include:- Analyze monthly utility trends (water, sewer, electric, gas, trash) and develop strategies to optimize recapture performance across all communities
- Support field managers with utility‑related administrative tasks, usage analysis, billing accuracy reviews, and operational improvements
- Identify cost‑saving opportunities and recommend efficiency enhancements across the portfolio
- Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes related to utility systems and vendors
- Provide training and ongoing support to community managers on utility processes, tools, and best practices
- Maintain and improve operational workflows, SOPs, and internal controls related to utility management
- Support initiatives such as software migrations, submeter installations, system rollouts, and process improvements
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure accurate data reporting and compliance
- Perform utility audits and assist with expense tracking, forecasting, and reporting
- Complete additional tasks or projects as assigned by leadership
- 2+ years of experience in property management, operations, utilities analysis, or administrative support
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Experience in manufactured housing or multifamily property management industry preferred
- Experience with property management software (e.g. Rent Manager) as well as utility management software (e.g. Conservice, Zego, Water Scope) preferred
- Exposure to utility audits, expense management and forecasting, cost analysis, or financial reporting preferred
- Ability to work well in excel and interpret/audit utility bills, reports, and usage data
- Strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills
- Heavy analytical skills with a strong attention to detail and accountability/follow‑through
- Ability to lead and train large groups of people towards a common goal
