** Summary/Objective**:
The Residential Underwriter Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities for the mortgage loan underwriting team ensuring loans are underwritten to compliance with regulatory and organization guidelines. This position supervises the mortgage underwriting team and provides coaching and training to staff on all underwriting issues and policy exceptions and makes recommendations to the Residential Loan Manager.
** Essential Job Functions**:
* Oversee the daily operations of the residential underwriting team.
* Ensure consistent application of underwriting guidelines.
* Provide feedback and implement training plans.
* Review complex or high-risk loan files and provide decisions when required.
* Support internal and external audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
* Collaborate with the other residential teams such as funder/closers, processors, and loan officers.
* Identify process improvements to enhance workflow and borrower experience.
* Manage, mentor, and train the residential underwriting personnel.
* Provide direction for the development and implementation of policies and procedures applicable to residential underwriting.
* Manage the quality control, accuracy and efficiency of the residential underwriting team.
* Maintain and stay up to date on knowledge of all applicable regulations, bank policies, secondary market guidelines, and industry changes.
* Other related tasks as assigned.## Qualifications
** Requirements:
*** Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or related field
** OR
* * an equivalent of 4 or more years of working experience in residential lending.
* Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite Products.
* 4 or more years of experience working with automated loan processing and underwriting systems.
* Experience working with secondary market guidelines and portfolio lending.
** Preferred:
*** 2 or more years of supervisory experience preferred.
** Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
*** Knowledge and understanding of loan applications, products, and services.
* Ability to communicate and listen effectively.
* Ability to solve problems and think creatively.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality.
* Able to work under deadlines and fluctuating workloads.
* Extensive knowledge of applicable secondary and market portfolio lending guidelines and policies.
* Excellent organizational skills and time management ability.
* Ability to mentor, manage, and train staff.
