Performs highly complex (senior-level) work overseeing correctional staff who provide direct care to juveniles in a correctional residential facility. Responsibilities include overseeing daily operations, facilitating youth rehabilitation, supervising youth, and coaching personal development in accordance with individualized treatment plans. Provides supervision and direct care for youth, ensuring safety and security of youth and staff. Coaches and mentors other JCOs to teach appropriate methods and positive ways to work with youth.

Works to help youth identify and manage stress and trauma, and to react in more socially appropriate ways. Uses appropriate intervention methods to aid in learning and correct behavior.
