Job Purpose

The Production Manager Heavy Structure Division is responsible for   planning, organizing, and controlling fabrication and erection activities  of heavy steel structures to ensure projects are completed   safely, on time, within cost, and as per quality standards  . The role involves manpower management, process optimization, coordination with PPC, QA/QC, maintenance, and dispatch teams.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning Execution

Execute production plans for heavy structural fabrication such as columns, beams, girders, trusses, towers, and assemblies.
Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly production targets are achieved as per PPC schedules.
Optimize workflow across cutting, fitting, welding, drilling, blasting, painting, and loading operations.

Manpower Resource Management

Plan and allocate manpower, machines, and tools efficiently.
Supervise supervisors, foremen, and shop-floor teams.
Control overtime, productivity, and labor efficiency.

Process Control Productivity

Improve production processes to enhance throughput and efficiency .
Reduce rework, delays, and idle time.
Monitor machine utilization and coordinate preventive maintenance with the maintenance team.

Quality Safety Compliance

Ensure adherence to quality standards, drawings, WPS, and customer specifications .
Enforce safety rules, PPE usage, and safe working practices in the shop and yard.
Coordinate with QA/QC to resolve quality issues and non-conformances.

Coordination Inter-Departmental Liaison

Coordinate with PPC, QA/QC, Stores, Maintenance, Dispatch, and Engineering departments.
Ensure timely availability of materials, consumables, and drawings.
Support customer inspections and project reviews.

Cost Control Reporting

Monitor production costs, scrap, rework, and wastage.
Prepare and review daily production reports, MIS, and performance dashboards .
Support budgeting and cost-reduction initiatives.

Dispatch Project Support

Ensure timely completion of fabricated items for dispatch and erection .
Support project teams in meeting milestones and site requirements.

Continuous Improvement

Implement Lean manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement practices .
Drive training and skill development of production staff.

Strong knowledge of heavy steel structure fabrication and erection processes
Leadership and team management skills
Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and BOQs
Strong planning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Proficiency in ERP/MIS and MS Excel

Qualification Experience

Education:

B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical / Production / Civil Engineering

Experience:

1015 years in production, preferably in heavy structure / steel fabrication industry
