Maintenance Assistant​/Painter

The Gardens at Gettysburg is seeking a dependable Maintenance Assistant / Painter to support the upkeep, safety, and appearance of our skilled nursing facility. This role includes general maintenance responsibilities as well as routine and touch-up painting to maintain a clean, professional environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

• Perform general facility maintenance, including repairs to walls, baseboards, doors, ceilings, mirrors, and windows

• Complete interior painting projects, including resident rooms, hallways, offices, and common areas

• Perform wall preparation such as patching, sanding, priming, and touch-up painting as needed

• Remove trash and assist with light cleaning as needed

• Move and arrange furniture to complete maintenance and painting assignments

• Coordinate daily maintenance activities with nursing staff when working in resident care areas

• Assist with terminal cleaning of resident rooms following transfer, discharge, or death

• Follow maintenance schedules and supervisor instructions in accordance with established policies and procedures

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs, including plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical work, and painting

• Maintain facility grounds, parking areas, and driveways by cutting, trimming, sweeping, and general upkeep

• Replace light bulbs, including exit and overhead lights

• Assist with the Preventative Maintenance Program to ensure equipment and machinery remain operational

• Respond to unscheduled or emergency maintenance needs as directed

• Participate in the on-call rotation, including weekends and holidays, as scheduled

• Previous experience in maintenance and/or painting required

• Experience with interior painting, drywall repair, patching, and surface preparation

• Familiarity with maintenance tools, painting equipment, and cleaning materials

• Ability to work independently and follow instructions
