The RN Team Lead serves as an experienced nurse responsible for the coordination of patient care for an assigned specialty area. This role provides and coordinates education/mentoring for the specialty area, physician preference cards and/or protocols, proper functioning of and training on equipment, and inventory of specialty supplies and equipment. Also performs the duties of the RN in the specialty area.

This role provides and coordinates education/mentoring for the specialty area, physician preference cards and/or protocols, proper functioning of and training on equipment, and inventory of specialty supplies and equipment. Also performs the duties of the RN in the specialty area.

- Accountable for the coordination of care processes within the designated specialty.
- Serves as resource for complex patient care issues and situations drawing from experience in the specialty area.
- Serves as a liaison for the specialty physicians.
- Reviews and maintains physician preference cards and/or protocols in the assigned specialty.
- Maintains proper function of equipment in assigned specialty.
- Presents training on new equipment and instrumentation.
- Evaluates and makes recommendations for specialty supplies and equipment.
- Ensures that required equipment and supplies are available and in working order for all procedures.
- Assists with staff assignments within the specialty area.
- Demonstrates cultural excellence in patient care and the work environment.
- Supports excellence in clinical practice by developing the staff’s skills and knowledge in the specialty area.
- Establishes relationship with vendors and serves as the liaison among vendors, management, and specialty physicians.
- Serves as a team leader within the designated specialty area.
- Provides direct patient care in the specialty area.
- Required - Associates Degree Nursing
- Preferred - Bachelor's Degree Nursing
- Required - Registered Nurse 0-1 years
- Preferred - Clinical nursing 1-3 years
- Required - BASIC LIFE SUPPORT - American Heart Association
- Required - Registered Nurse Tennessee - Tennessee Board of Nursing
- Preferred - Certification in clinical specialty
Skills and Abilities
- Skill and proficiency in applying highly technical principles, concepts and techniques, which are central to the nursing profession.
- Demonstrated competence in the specialty area assigned; maintains competencies required for the specialty area.
- Working technical ability with business software such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
- Proficient in the utilization of all functions of the electronic medical records system.
- Demonstrated ability to manage by influence in a consultative role.
- Demonstrates a commitment to on-going learning through professional development, clinical expertise, and peer guidance.
- Demonstrates organizational skills to manage care coordination and act as a preceptor to staff.
- There are no supervisory responsibilities, but this position functions in a lead role, providing guidance, direction, and training to the staff working in the specialty area.
