Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer – Germantown, TN / Atlanta, GA
Responsible for driving product quality through the entire value stream of TK Elevator. This role will help establish and improve a comprehensive supplier quality program, which includes supplier QMS qualification and improvement, supplier strategy, supplier product quality, supplier audit, root cause analysis and 8D effectiveness, supplier quality scorecard, and continuous improvements. It is a key technical and leadership position affecting product life‑cycle management, procurement strategy, and part quality by creating a seamless linkage between TK Elevator’s quality management system and that of its suppliers and distributors.
This is achieved by implementing and maintaining a quality‑function partnership with geographically distributed business functions as well as internal and external customers and suppliers.
- Lead supplier development, supplier risk assessments and supplier gap analysis in support of new product road maps and future business strategies.
- Deliver supplier quality deliverables in the Standard Product Development.
- Present findings and recommendations as part of the Business Review process.
- Partner with Sourcing and Engineering to ensure all drawings, specifications, CTQ’s are systematically defined, agreed to by internal TK Elevator Americas personnel, and communicated to suppliers for action.
- Develop and negotiate quality requirements in contractual agreements with suppliers, procurement managers and legal.
- Qualify products purchased using a Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) to establish stable manufacturing within the supply base. Lead internal and external teams to improve Cost of Poor Quality, Design for Manufacturing and Good Manufacturing Practices within the supply base.
- Assure product compliance to purchasing specifications through supplier and engineering change order systems.
- Execute BU audit strategy which includes the development and execution of supplier audits with procurement and the global TK Elevator commodity managers.
- Conduct root cause analysis to develop corrective and preventive action plans, manage investigation of field failures regarding supplier products and make recommendations for corrective plans.
- Drive issue resolution and continual improvement using TK Elevator America’s corrective action system and supplier systems.
- Ensure timely response and action to ensure effectiveness of 8D that addresses root cause and eliminates reoccurrence.
- Deliver against quality metrics as defined by the business.
- Report to top management on the performance of the quality management system and any needs for improvement.
- Deliver quality training to support effective quality execution in the interest of TK Elevator.
- Escalate all issues impacting the timely release and quality of new product development programs to upper management.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline or non‑technical degree with 15 years of relevant experience.
- Advanced degree in quality management, engineering or business discipline preferred.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 40%.
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering, procurement or supplier management responsibility.
- Qualified auditor with knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems or equivalent.
