* Position Purpose
* The Student Nurse Intern/Extern position is designed to give RN nursing students valuable knowledge of professionalism in nursing practice, the experience of hands-on nursing excellence and best practice in patient care.

* Unit Overview
* The Acute Care is a 30 bed inpatient unit that is part of a new transformational care team model created to improve patient care and provide nurses and nurse assistants new opportunities and support. The RN will team with an experienced virtual RN (vRN) and a certified nursing assistant to provide excellent patient care to patients in an acute care setting.

This fast-paced unit has a diverse population of staff and patients with multiple medical co-morbidities.

* As a Student Nurse Intern, you will:
* * Directly observes nursing care provided by an R.N. partner in the Acute Care unit.

* Performs assigned patient care based on validated skills achieved in clinical/lab courses within your school of nursing.

* Minimum Qualifications:

* * Current CNA license with the State of Maryland required.

* BLS certification (issued through the American Heart Association).

* Current enrollment in a School of Nursing and entering last year of program.

* Completion of at least one Medical/Surgical clinical rotation.

* Reads, writes, speaks, and comprehends the English language.

* Working Conditions:

* * May be required to lift a minimum 15 – 35 lbs as determined by the nature of the nursing unit.

* Must be able to push, pull, lift patients. Must be able to push, pull lift and move patient care equipment, i.e., beds, stretchers.

* Must be able to bend body downward at the waist; be able to kneel.

* Must have visual accuracy and auditory acuity.

* Must be able to distinguish color, texture, temperature and size.

* Must have ability to coordinate eyes and hands quickly and accurately.

* Frequent use of computers and other patient care monitoring devices required.
Pay: $19.00. Pay is based on experience, skills and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
