Join us at Tetra Tech as a Civil/Environmental Engineer Mid Level in our Environmental Consulting team in Germantown, Maryland. This position performs and manages technical tasks such as preparation of work plans, fieldwork, sampling, design, construction oversight, O&M, and report writing on civil and environmental projects in the public and private sector.

Tetra Tech is adding a Civil Engineer to our team. This position will have field and non-field related responsibilities, requiring up to 50 percent field work and/or travel.

Responsibilities
- Perform tasks requiring utilization of advanced scientific, geologic, and engineering analytical techniques.
- Lead efforts in preparing work plans, subcontract specifications, and remedial investigation, feasibility study, and long-term monitoring reports.
- Supervise and coordinate the work of junior level staff on projects.
- Work/coordinate with project team personnel.
- Execute and interpret project requirements related to RCRA, CERCLA, UST, CWA and other regulations.
- Assist in and potentially lead proposal preparation efforts.
- Manage subcontractors and monitor project cost and schedule performance.
Qualifications
- Candidate must have a B.S. degree in Engineering or Environmental Studies/Science.
- Candidate must have a valid Maryland P.E. license, or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire.
- 5-8 years of experience with engineering, scientific, or general environmental projects and data interpretation.
- Demonstrated experience managing projects.
- Expertise in CADD, such as AutoCAD Civil.
Preferred
- Knowledge of RCRA, CERCLA, UST, CWA and other regulations.
- OSHA training, including 40-hour HAZWOPER.
- Direct experience in preparing documents such as sampling work plans, CERCLA FS, PRAPs and RODs.
- Experience including characterization and/or remediation of hazardous waste sites.
- Technical writing.
Physical Demands
Candidate must be able to perform field investigation and construction oversight that could potentially require: performing strenuous fieldwork, standing, crouching and sitting, moving earth, lifting equipment, and potential exposure to natural and chemical hazards.
Work Environment
Office work more prevalent than field or site work; however travel may be required up to 50%. Ability to perform and maintain rigorous detailed documentation of field activities.
Language & Communication Skills
Excellent writing and communication skills required. Must be fluent in the English language – writing and speaking. Technical report writing experience preferred.
