Community Action Partnerships of Western Nebraska (CAPWN) is a non-profit community-based health and human services organization that serves low-income, disadvantaged and those unable to meet their needs through other sources. The agency was established in 1965 and provides services to over 9,000 individuals, children and families in three main areas:

* Community Health Services: WIC, Commodity Supplemental Food, Foster Grandparents, Head Start, and Child Development Center.

Accounting Specialist II

Full-time, Monday-Friday 8AM to 5PM

Areas of Responsibility:
The Account Specialist II maintains accurate financial records, reconciles general ledger and bank accounts, processes payables and receivables, and ensures compliance with grant and agency requirements. This role prepares financial reports, supports budget entry, communicates with vendors and grant partners, and helps meet all recurring finance deadlines. It also provides staff training, maintains contract and lease files, offers cross‑coverage within the department, and contributes to departmental operations by leading monthly meetings with the department director and staff.

Major Duties:

* Maintain accurate agency accounting records.

* Reconcile general ledger accounts

* Ensure expenses presented for payment are coded properly, entered timely, and have the required documentation according to finance policies and procedures.

* Ensure fiscal compliance with all grantors from grant implementation through close-out.

* Review and reconcile financial reports, seek clarification and documentation of expenses, and recommend corrections as necessary; review, reconcile, correct, and compile financial data for the preparation and submission of internal reports, compliance reports, grant financial reports, and grant reimbursements.

* Maintain relationships with grant managers and program officers of funding bodies.

* Review and verify budget numbers and enter the approved budget in the accounting software.

* Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
