The Judicial Branch is a state‑funded Branch of Government that offers medical, dental, vision, free basic life insurance, a state‑matched 156% retirement plan, 13 paid holidays, earned paid vacation and sick leave, and more. This classification level works under general supervision and is responsible for spending a majority of time in the courtroom, capturing and recording verbatim proceedings, maintaining case information during and after proceedings, and preparing documents for each court session such as labeling exhibits and preparing journal entries.
Responsibilities may include recording proceedings, scheduling further court hearings, and must have knowledge of all case types (traffic, criminal, small claims, civil, juvenile, probate, guardian, and conservatorship). May involve travel to other courts. Overtime may be required if court proceedings are running behind or late.
- Monitors ongoing case files, which includes identifying appropriate forms, monitoring case status, issuing and processing warrants and civil suspensions, tracking and maintaining files.
- Maintains court calendar; schedules interpreters, transportation, prosecutors, defense counsel, and/or events.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
The above classification responsibilities represent only the key areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the business needs of the department.
Requirements / QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED; and 2 years of courtroom clerk experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
All educational credits must be granted from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Department of Education.
