- Approach all encounters with guests and team members in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Callaway standards, as required by scheduling.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming which includes appropriate uniform and nametag when working.
- Always comply with Callaway standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
- Assist in leading, supervising, and mentoring beach lifeguards and aquatics team members.
- Support scheduling, staffing levels, rotations, and daily assignments to maintain optimal coverage.
- Provide ongoing support towards aquatic health through regular testing and management of pool chemistry.
- Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and corrective action as needed.
- Conduct routine safety audits of resort facilities to include restaurants, attractions, and lodging.
- Assist with daily opening, operation, and closing of beach and aquatic facilities.
- Monitor water conditions, weather, crowd levels, and environmental hazards.
- Coordinate responses to aquatic incidents, rescues, and medical emergencies.
- Help ensure compliance with local, state, and resort to aquatic safety regulations.
- Conduct routine safety checks, equipment inspections, and facility audits.
- Participate in emergency drills, in-service training, and after-action reviews.
- Complete and review incident, rescue, and injury reports; identify trends and recommend improvements
- Assist with onboarding, training, and certification maintenance for lifeguard staff.
- Support ongoing in-service training focused on rescue skills, first aid, CPR, and guest interaction.
- Assist with developing and improving aquatic safety programs, procedures, and response plans.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
- Attend all meetings/training as required by supervisor or manager.
- 2–4 years of experience in aquatics or lifeguarding operations.
- Prior supervisory or lead experience in an aquatic or beach lifeguard environment.
- Current Lifeguard certification required;
Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Instructor Certification preferred. - Experience in resorts, water parks, or large guest-facing aquatic environments preferred.
- Ability to swim continuously and perform water rescues in open-water or beach environments.
- Ability to stand, walk, and remain vigilant for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, carry, and assist guests or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Capability to respond rapidly to emergencies, including running on sand and swimming against currents.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat and sun exposure.
- Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays as operationally required.
- Be able to positively motivate and lead a team, conveying information and ideas clearly and effectively so that ownership of high levels of guest service is understood to be the role of each individual team member.
- Be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
- Be able to work well in high-pressure situations while maintaining composure and objectivity, including the ability to listen carefully to and resolve guest issues to the satisfaction of the affected guests.
- Be able to identify potential guest issues and then develop methodologies to prevent or limit the impact of those guest issues during guest visits.
- Be able to assimilate complex information and data for various sources and consider, adjust or modify to meet the constraints of the need.
- Be able to effectively listen to, understand, and clarify concerns and issues raised by team members and guests.
- Be able to work with and understand financial information and data and perform basic math functions.
- Be able to show thorough knowledge of lifeguarding practices, rescue techniques, and emergency action plans.
