Job DescriptionCable technicians work in homes and businesses to install and repair telecommunications cables, including phone lines, internet cables, and cable television. The role involves direct customer interaction, technical troubleshooting with diagnostic equipment, quality control inspections, and safe operating practices in a company‑owned vehicle. A good driving record, ability to use a 28’ ladder (up to 75 lbs), and flexible early/late hours are required.
Responsibilities- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot cable systems including telephone lines, Ethernet connections, and low voltage wiring.
- Perform fiber splicing and network installation to ensure optimal connectivity.
- Utilize hand tools and equipment safely and effectively to complete installations and repairs.
- Conduct field service visits to diagnose issues reported by customers and provide timely solutions.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure all projects are completed efficiently and within deadlines.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including service reports and inventory usage.
- Adhere to safety protocols while working in various environments, including residential and commercial settings.
- Formal education and experience appropriate to installation and repair of telecommunications cable systems.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to interpret technical instructions.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and manage simple documentation.
- Good written and verbal communication skills for customer interaction and internal reporting.
- Physical capability to stand, walk, sit, lift up to 75 lbs, climb, and use hands for tool manipulation.
- Safe driving record and ability to operate a company vehicle responsibly.
