Position: WELDING WORKER with Security Clearance

Duties Help
* You will weld in all positions, with various electric arc or gas welding processes; you may perform flame cutting.
* You will work with various types of metals and alloys of varying sizes, shapes and thickness, applicable to the construction, repair and maintenance of submarines, ships, utilities and facilities of the activity.
* You will lay out work from blueprints, specifications or oral instructions and read/follow written technical work instructions such as TWD's, TGI's, UREL's, PI's etc.
* You will operate various types of electrical arc-welding and cutting equipment by the manual, semiautomatic methods; i.e., gas-metal-arc, gas-tungsten-arc, submerged-arc, manual-metal arc welding, plasma-arc cutting, brazing and flame cutting. Requirements Help Conditions of employment
* Must be a US Citizen.
* Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
* Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

* You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
* Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
* You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
* This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
* Incumbent must also be able to maintain an IT-II designation.
* This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION
* Ability to receive assignments of the welding trade under the guidance of a journeyman welder or welder instructor for the purposes of developing and increasing proficiency in the use and demonstration of welding trade methods and techniques.
* Ability to assist the journeyman welder by adjusting equipment controls and positioning work pieces prior to flame cutting or welding operations.
* Ability to preheat items and conduct flame heat treating operations as required for the job assignment, such as brazing, soldering, and metal surface building.
* Ability to operate simple welding trade related machines to perform assigned job tasks.
* Ability to observe and obey fire safety and prevention rules and regulations and use precautions against fire for personal and shop safety.
* Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and work orders related to the welding trade.
