Job Title:

Access Control Technician

Reports To:

Office Manager or Franchise Owner

Key Areas of Responsibility:

The Access Control Technician is a technical role vital to the company's growth. This hands-on position involves working in the field with clients, primarily servicing mechanical locks, doors, and electronic security systems. Candidates should have experience with commercial access controls, wiring, surveillance cameras, and software, demonstrating problem-solving skills in the security industry. The role includes traveling to various commercial clients such as schools, manufacturing facilities, and churches to install, inspect, and service electronic access systems.

Requirements/Responsibilities:

7-10 years of hands-on experience in security solutions, including access controls, surveillance cameras, and wiring.

Drive company vans to client sites for installation, inspection, and servicing of access and video systems.

Experience with configuring and servicing access controls, card readers, wiring, and CCTV hardware and software.

Respond to customer inquiries and requests, providing solutions and recommendations.

Handle complex customer issues professionally.

Define project scope, obtain customer approval for add-ons and change orders, and prepare invoices and estimates.

Conduct site visits independently or with sales teams for existing or potential clients.

Manage projects from initial walk-through to completion, ensuring smooth hand-offs for ongoing service.

Maintain accurate records of inspections, services, and troubleshooting, updating documentation and software as required.

Use smartphone apps and computer software for check-ins and payment collection.

Act as onsite project lead, overseeing technicians, apprentices, and subcontractors to meet project timelines and goals.

Perform other duties as assigned by management.

While specific brands are not required, experience with access controls, surveillance, wiring, and related hardware is essential. Familiarity with brands such as CDVI, PDK, Avigilon, Brivo, Open Path, HID, Dahua, Hanwha, Axis, and others is beneficial.

Physical Requirements:

Fluent in English (spoken and written)
Ability to lift and carry 50-100 lbs
Capable of kneeling, crouching, reaching, climbing ladders, and working in outdoor weather conditions
