Overview
Assist Sea Island’s nature team in fostering a productive well rounded nature facility for guests of all ages to enjoy. Welcome guests and members upon entrance to Sea Island’s Nature Center and confirm nature programming reservations. Act as a knowledgeable point of reference for any guests and members with nature department inquiries. Communicate effectively with guests and promote Sea Island’s legacy of warm genuine hospitality.
Conduct various nature driven programs for guests including, but not limited to, interactive wildlife presentations, guided birding tours, sea turtle dawn patrol, and educational sea turtle night walks. Exemplify confidence working with children of all ages and overseeing children’s safety and well-being during all nature programming. Perform daily maintenance of all in-house wildlife display enclosures, maintain animal husbandry protocols and recordings.
Assist the nature team with Sea Island’s “Sea Turtle Adopt-a-Nest” conservation fundraising program. Efficiently and effectively meet guests’ nest adoption requests, assemble package materials, communicate nesting season updates, and implement conservation fundraising goals. Uphold ongoing outstanding guest and member relations. As needed, assist the nature team with wildlife research and data collection on sea turtle dawn patrol. Assist with additional marsh, beach and maritime forest ecology tours around the island.
Uphold and ensure compliance with all company and departmental policies and procedures.
- Background or experience in biology, ecology, or a related field preferred
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn Georgia coastal ecosystems and wildlife
- Strong passion and ability to work with children and guests of all ages
- Excellent verbal and written communication and public presentation skills
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- CPR and First Aid certified (or within 30 days of hire)
- Valid Georgia driver’s license with a favorable driving record
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic computer systems
- Professional, detail-oriented, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities
- Flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Available to work May–August and committed to Sea Island’s values and Five-Star standards
- Welcome guests and manage Nature Center reservations and inquiries
- Lead and assist with educational nature programs, tours, and children’s activities
- Maintain and care for wildlife exhibits, aquariums, and educational animals
- Support Sea Turtle Adopt-a-Nest conservation and fundraising program
- Assist with sea turtle research, dawn patrols, night walks, and wildlife data collection
- Provide outstanding guest service and foster a safe, engaging environment
- Assist with facility upkeep, equipment setup, and general operations
- Represent Sea Island at environmental and community events
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and departmental standards
