Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Charge RN)

Location:

Millen, GA

Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: Night shift – 3x12 or 4x12 (19:00 – 07:00); alternating schedule (M, Tu, Fr, Sa one week / Su, W, Th the following week); every other weekend

• Serve as Charge RN for a 10-bed Medical‑Surgical unit.
• Oversee and support nursing staff while managing patient care assignments.
• Provide direct patient care with a maximum 1:5 nurse‑to‑patient ratio.
• Respond to emergencies and assist other departments as needed (Charge RN responsible for responding in emergency situations).
• Perform comprehensive head‑to‑toe assessments.
• Manage cardiac monitoring and emergency response situations.
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias.
• Activate and collaborate with Rapid Response/Code teams.
• Provide respiratory care including:
  BiPAP/CPAP management and maintenance, Chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur Evac preferred), Interpretation of ABGs (preferred).
• Perform IV therapy and phlebotomy including:
  Starting and maintaining IVs, Blood product administration, Phlebotomy.
• Care for patients with neurological and psychiatric conditions including: CVA (Stroke), Mood disorders, Spinal cord injuries.
• Manage orthopedic trauma patients.
• Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols.
• Perform intubation as needed.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Pharmacy, Social Services, and Phlebotomy.
• Document in CPSI charting system (training provided if needed).

• Active RN license.
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience.
• Previous Charge RN experience required.
• Experience with 1:5 patient ratios.
• BLS (required).
• ACLS (required).
• Strong cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills.
• Ability to float in emergency situations.
• Must work every other weekend.
• No RTO permitted.
• First‑time travelers accepted.
• Former permanent employees not eligible to return as travelers.

• PALS certification.
• Experience with chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur Evac).
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
• Interpretation of ABGs.
• Experience with CPSI charting system (not required; training provided).

Job :

Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 48 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax‑free stipend amount to be determined.
