An opportunity is available for an experienced ICU Registered Nurse in a Level 1 Trauma Designated teaching hospital located in Bonaire, GA. This contract position offers a challenging and rewarding environment caring for critically ill adult patients in a 14-bed Medical ICU unit known for its comprehensive services including chest pain and stroke centers.
Responsibilities include managing patients with complex diagnoses such as respiratory failure, renal failure, sepsis, GI bleeds, DKA, strokes, and ARDS. Your expertise in ventilator support, tracheostomy care, chest tube management, and vasoactive medication administration will be essential. You will monitor invasive lines, hemodynamically unstable patients, and assist with bedside procedures. The patient-to-nurse ratio ranges from 1:1 to 1:2, ensuring focused, high-quality care.
Qualifications and Desired
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years ICU nursing experience
- Active RN license
- BLS and ACLS certifications required; CCRN preferred
- NIHSS certification required
- Strong skills in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucommander usage, and managing drips including insulin and heparin
- Experience monitoring arterial lines, central venous lines, and intracranial pressure
- Ability to manage ventilator-supported patients and invasive monitoring
Hours:
- 12-hour shifts (7A-7P or 7P-7A)
- Weekend rotation: 5-6 shifts out of 12 (6-week cycle)
- No on-call duties
- Holiday coverage required for one major holiday shift per holiday season
- Shift schedule subject to manager approval for RTO requests
The unit uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Philips monitors, and specialized equipment such as Belmont Rapid Infusers and TABLO. The unit is supported by dedicated CNAs, unit secretaries, resource nurses, RTs, hospitalists, intensivists, and a PICC team. A thorough orientation program will be provided including a day of orientation and departmental modules.
