Position: Med-Surg Nurse (RN) in Bonaire, GA
Location: Bonaire

This opportunity involves providing skilled nursing care in a busy Med Surg/Telemetry unit at a Level 1 Trauma, teaching hospital with 637 licensed beds. The unit cares for patients with acute and chronic conditions including cardiac, post-surgical, diabetes, hypertension, infections, and electrolyte imbalances. This role requires strong clinical skills, teamwork, and effective care coordination.

Qualifications and

Experience:

• Registered Nurse (RN) with a minimum of 2 years Med Surg/Telemetry experience
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred (travelers will complete EKG competency exam)
• Certification in Med Surg nursing is a plus
• Skilled in tracheostomy and chest tube care, PIV starts, IV maintenance, glucommander, telemetry monitoring, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and post-cath groin site management
• Comfortable managing drips including insulin, heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, milrinone, Digoxin, and nicardipine
• Strong assessment, time management, patient education, and discharge planning abilities

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct nursing care to 20-36 patient beds per Med Surg/Tele unit, managing a patient ratio of approximately 1:4-6
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams including CNA, unit secretaries, charge nurses, phlebotomy, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists
• Utilize EMR system (EPIC), IV pumps (Alaris), medication dispensing (Pyxis), and vital sign monitors to ensure accurate patient care
• Participate in a comprehensive orientation, including educational modules and departmental training
• Float among Med Surg/Telemetry units as needed

Schedule:

• 12-hour shifts (7A-7P or 7P-7A) on a 6-week rotation
• Weekend rotation includes 5-6 shifts every 12 days
• Holiday coverage for key dates including Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Year's Eve/Day
• No call required
