Job Overview

Fairview is seeking Nursing Assistant for the Operating Room at The University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank in Minneapolis, MN!

This position is a full‑time role, 1.0 FTE (80 hours every two weeks) working 8‑hour shifts with variable start times (mostly 9 am — 5:30 pm). Occasional weekends/holidays and off shifts may be required to cover vacation requests.

• Facilitate OR room turnover and perform cleanup of the OR.
• Readiness of OR for next patient.
• Procure equipment and properly care for equipment, taking action for preventive maintenance.
• Transport specimens and blood products.
• Transport dirty case carts to the decontamination area.
• Assists in the transfer/positioning of patients and in the preparation of patients for surgery.
• Transport patient, maintain inventory control, order and manage supplies as directed.
• Restock department supplies, make rounds to keep inventory in stock, and communicate supply issues.
• Demonstrate ability to provide care or service, adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of the population served.

• Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required.
• Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview‑sponsored Nursing Assistant program.
• Six months of recent direct care experience in a long‑term, home care or acute care setting (e.g., PCA, Resident Assistant, Emergency Room Technician).
• Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, with completion of one semester of clinical rotation within the program.
• Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire (does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if transferring into another nursing role).

• Previous experience as a Health Unit Coordinator, Nursing Assistant, or other related experience.

The posted compensation range corresponds to the minimum and maximum pay rates outlined in your union agreement for the respective job classifications at the time of job posting. An individual's pay rate within this range may be influenced by various factors, including FTE, skills, knowledge, educational background, and qualifying experience as specified in the contract. If your role is eligible for a sign‑on bonus, the bonus program that is approved and in place at the time of offer will be honored.
