Base rate: $100,000 per year. Base rate with management experience: $110,000 per year.

41 paid days off per year.

About Us

Augusta University is Georgia's innovation center for education and health care, training the next generation of innovators, leaders, and healthcare providers. Established in 2017, the Department of Juvenile Justice Health Services was created through a collaboration between Augusta University Health System and the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice to deliver high-quality health services to justice‑involved youth in 25 facilities.

Our mission in the Department of Juvenile Justice Health Services is to transform young lives by providing evidence‑based rehabilitative treatment services and supervision, strengthening the well‑being of youth and families, and fostering safe communities. Each youth receives individualized care to improve their health knowledge and wellness potential.

Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Under the general direction of the Lead Nurse and clinical direction of the Physician, provide basic medical services using professional medical skills to meet a variety of healthcare needs, with ambulatory care as a primary focus.
  • Evaluate and treat the general medical and health needs of youth.
  • Monitor CQI programs related to patient care.
Required Qualifications
  • Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant in the State of Georgia.
  • 2 years of previous clinical experience (preferably 1 year in a correctional setting).
  • Good organizational, decision‑making, physical and mental health; able to work under pressure; relate well to patients, security staff, visitors, and co‑workers.
  • Functions within the Georgia Board of Nursing Nurse Practice Act and Georgia Composite Medical Board Rules.
  • Current Health Care Provider BCLS Certification from American Heart or Red Cross.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, normal bending, reaching, stooping, standing, and sitting for long periods, and move quickly within 4 minutes in emergencies. Normal hearing/vision with corrective appliances permitted.
  • Security Clearance by the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice.
