Position Summary
Reporting to the Quality Assurance & Food Safety Supervisor, the Picking Table Technician is responsible for inspecting product passing over the picking table according to API standard procedures.
Position ResponsibilitiesThis job description is not intended to be all-inclusive, and the employee may perform other duties as requested to meet the ongoing needs of American Peanut Ingredients (API).
- Must be able to sit at a table during production hours for up to 12 hours a day with three 20-minute breaks given throughout the day.
- Must be able to accurately document foreign material, lot numbers, and times on production paperwork in a timely manner.
- Must be able to communicate with Operations and QA any foreign materials found during production.
- Must be able to work overtime as required, ability to adjust hours as needed. Must be willing to work on his or her feet for up to 12hr shifts.
- Be able to notify management of any safety-related or suspicious activities that may affect plant security.
- Be able to inform management of any food safety or quality issues or of any processes which become non‑compliant with specified requirements.
- Be able to work closely in a team environment and make decisions as a team.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Read and understand the daily schedule, and contribute to the successful completion of the schedule.
- Strive to reduce overtime, yield waste, and strive to improve daily line performance.
- Participate in continuous improvement teams.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ensure compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures and with applicable Federal, State and local codes, regulations and requirements.
- Follow API Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines.
- Follow all API Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Understand and follow API safety policies, work safely and report any safety hazards or unsafe conditions to the Plant Manager, your Immediate Supervisor, or Safety Coordinator.
- Demonstrate good communication skills and an ability to work as part of a team.
- Successfully complete all required monthly API training modules within the allotted time periods.
