Our client is an expanding U.S. manufacturer producing specialized cable solutions for the electronic, traffic infrastructure, renewable energy, and industrial connectivity markets.
About the RoleWe are seeking to connect with Process Engineers with solid experience in plastic/compound extrusion in a manufacturing environment. This individual will play a key role in enhancing and standardizing production processes for insulated wire and cable operations. The focus will be on increasing line efficiency, strengthening product consistency, minimizing scrap, and ensuring compliance with customer and regulatory requirements. This is a highly interactive, plant‑floor‑focused opportunity suited for an engineer who thrives in a hands‑on environment and is motivated by driving operational improvements and long‑term manufacturing scalability.
Responsibilities- Process Development & Optimization
- Develop and standardize extrusion processes for insulated copper cable products
- Optimize line speeds, scrap reduction, and overall equipment efficiency
- Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis with production & maintenance teams
- Support plant layout and capacity planning for revenue growth
- Work with PVC, XLPE, PE, TPE, and related thermoplastics
- Support material trials and throughput improvements
- Assist with tooling, controls, and documented preventive maintenance programs
- Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with UL, ISO, NEC, ASTM, and CSA standards
- Conduct RCA and implement corrective actions
- Validate insulation thickness, concentricity, and dimensional performance
- Drive Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives
- Utilize SPC, FMEA, and DOE methodologies
- Develop standardized operating procedures and training documentation
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Materials Science preferred)
- 3+ years of experience in plastic extrusion manufacturing (wire & cable highly preferred)
- Strong troubleshooting ability with extrusion equipment & tooling
- Experience with ERP or production monitoring systems preferred
- Data-driven, hands‑on, and comfortable on the plant floor
