Description:

A forklift operator's job involves safely moving raw materials, semi-finished goods, and finished products within the facility using forklifts and other equipment. Key responsibilities include loading and unloading trucks, storing materials, performing daily forklift safety inspections, and maintaining accurate inventory records through cycle counts. The role requires compliance with all safety rules, and operators may assist in other warehouse tasks as needed.

Key responsibilities
Material handling:
Operate forklifts, pallet movers, and other equipment to move, store, and deliver raw materials, WIP (work-in-progress), and finished products.
Loading and unloading:
Load and unload trucks and trailers, ensuring materials are properly stacked, labeled, and secured.
Warehouse organization:
Maintain clean and orderly material storage areas, rotate stock, and move scrap to designated locations.
Inventory management:
Perform cycle counts, identify correct materials for production orders, and ensure all materials are properly labeled.
Equipment maintenance:
Conduct daily safety inspections of the forklift, place it on charge, and report any mechanical issues to supervision.
Safety and compliance:
Follow all company safety rules, OSHA guidelines, and maintain good housekeeping practices.
Team support:
Assist other departments and operators, and help ensure a smooth flow of materials to production lines.

Requirements
Forklift certification or the ability to obtain it.
Must have 2+ years verifiable experience on a sit-down forklift.
Ability to perform tasks such as lifting and moving objects up to 35 pounds.
High school diploma or equivalent is often required.
Basic computer skills for documentation and inventory.
