Blanching Lead

American Peanut Growers Group (APGG) is actively seeking qualified candidates interested in a long‑term career path in the peanut industry as a Blanching Lead. This position will safely handle the responsibilities of running the blancher and cleaning line to achieve maximum efficiency and quality. This position will report directly to the Blanching Manager.

The following duties and responsibilities are not intended to be all‑inclusive, and the candidate may perform other duties as requested to meet the ongoing needs of American Peanut Growers Group (APGG).

  • Lead daily shift huddle meetings with the team, discussing safety, food safety, quality, and production needs and/or misses from previous meetings, which should last anywhere from 2 to 5 minutes depending on the topic.
  • Manage team members, follow production schedules, and lead shift to meet daily production goals. Have an owner mentality, be accountable for your decisions, and be highly motivated to lead production activities to be efficient and profitable for the Company.
  • Must be able to fill out paperwork accurately and in a timely manner. Must be able to reconcile production issues.
  • Must be able to run all equipment and make adjustments when there is a need, i.e., Color Sorter, Dryer Oven, and Peanut Blanchers, Load In and Load Out positions.
  • Must be able to communicate with maintenance and quality with regard to food safety of machine maintenance. Must be able to perform minor maintenance of equipment and work with maintenance employees to repair equipment and reduce downtime.
  • Must be able to work overtime as required, ability to adjust hours, shifts as needed. This is a rotating shift. Team Lead must be willing to work on his or her feet for up to 12‑hour shifts.
  • Must be able to initiate action to prevent and/or record the occurrence of non‑conformities relating to Food Safety and the quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system.
  • Be able to effectively use technology to perform duties to include, but not limited to scanners, computers, lab testing equipment. Effectively use Grossman operating system. Reconcile production issues and inventory.
  • Ability to write up and enter maintenance work orders for repairs and communicate to the Blanching Manager.
  • Be able to notify management of any safety‑related or suspicious activities that may affect plant security.
  • Be able to inform management of any food safety or quality issues or of any processes that become non‑compliant with specified requirements.
  • Be able to work closely in a team environment and make decisions to lead the team.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Train and/or assist in the training of new team members.
  • Read and understand the daily schedule, and contribute to the successful completion of the schedule.
  • Strive to reduce overtime, yield waste, and strive to improve daily line performance.
  • Participate and/or lead continuous improvement teams to improve yield, performance, and quality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Break out employees on vacation, leave and/or breaks as needed.
  • Have the ability to monitor the process of blanching and make the changes necessary for a quality product.
  • Have the ability to operate any part of the process in the blanching operation, in the event of an absence or other unforeseen reasons.
  • Must know all areas of the plant in order to train new employees. Must retrain employees as needed.
