Job Overview

Provide leadership and direction to employees to attain short-term and long-term goals, optimize team effectiveness, and meet daily work schedules in the Processing Departments Ensures safety, regulatory compliance, morale, and cost control. Achieve departmental goals and metrics by managing crew, productivity, material usage, product quality (yield), and equipment utilization.

This position is based at an active mine site and requires daily onsite presence. Work conditions may include uneven terrain, climbing ladders, navigating steps, and exposure to varying weather conditions such as heat, rain, or mud.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure employees perform work according to established safety rules and practices, environmental and housekeeping standards while striving for ZERO Accidents.
  • Understands customer quality requirements, assures teammates understand and follow these requirements.
  • Develops, implements, and assures procedures are followed to detect and eliminate non-conforming incoming supplies.
  • Develops, implements, and assures procedures are followed for the processing department.
  • Coordinate the purchase of supplies necessary to ensure functioning of processing department.
  • Coordinate with Mine Supervisor to ensure clay meets specifications.
  • Supervise, train, develop, and review processing staff.
  • Plans processing operations, establishing priorities and sequences for processing products.
  • Communicate key metrics to Plant Manager and production teams to stimulate process improvement and cost reduction.
  • Arrange for equipment inspections as necessary, coordinate maintenance activities to meet established preventative maintenance goals.
  • Develop and maintain procedure manual and training aids.
  • Gather and analyze data; make and implement recommendations for process improvements and cost reductions.
  • Increase processing efficiencies along with crew efficiencies and maximize processing production.
  • Complete required reporting and documentation.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • College Degree preferred, or equivalent professional experience; must pass all job-related assessments.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a processing environment.
  • Experience in JDE or similar system.
  • Able to analyze problems and present workable solutions.
  • Familiarity with MSHA (or OSHA) regulations and practices, desired.
