Battery equipment maintenance engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of equipment and machinery for production by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs. This position will also need to cooperate with equipment engineers, controls engineers, production engineers, process engineers, and production managers to minimize downtime, maximize uptime, and optimize production efficiency. The role requires interacting with teams and vendors to resolve complex problems by identifying and evaluating alternatives.
As the facility operates 24/7, on‑call support may be required.
- Work in a cooperative team environment with Maintenance team members on emergency repairs, implementing corrective actions to achieve production milestones
- Troubleshoot and devise effective solutions to address challenges in equipment, including emergency repairs, to minimize downtime
- Oversee the new or modified production equipment installation and setup
- Analyze equipment issues and develop corrective actions
- Establish and perform preventive maintenance plans, including regular overhauls
- Manage spare parts and tools, including purchase orders and safety stock management
- Develop engineering solutions for continuous improvement in uptime, safety, and quality
- Report key maintenance activities, results, and indicators on a daily or weekly basis
- Revise or create work instructions for training and provide training for team members
- Continuously improve the production environment with 5S & 3R standards
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree or above in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or similar)
- Three years or more of relevant experience in maintenance of high-volume manufacturing
- Battery maintenance experience is appreciated; experience with battery manufacturing processes such as electrode, assembly, or formation is preferred
- Experience with new battery production equipment installation and setup
- Ability to safely perform the essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other standards.
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
- Regular standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing; occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, bending, or crawling is required.
Office Environment:
Must wear company‑provided uniforms.
Production Site:
Must wear company‑provided uniform and PPE, including safety shoes, helmet, safety glasses, and a portable gas‑measuring device.
Usual office environment, production, and construction sites.
Risks include noise (above 90 dB in compressor room), high temperatures (104–122 °F in various rooms), and potential exposure to hazardous materials (e.g., heating medium oil, NMP, water treatment chemicals).
