CHEMISTRY SUPERINTENDENT - Plant Hatch

Managers (SFAMs) and their staff at each site. The Chemistry Superintendent is responsible for providing direct oversight of the Chemistry Supervisors who supervise the Chemistry Technicians. The Chemistry Superintendent is responsible for aligning the Chemistry organization vertically through the SFAM and CFAM and horizontally (cross-functionally) between departments. The Chemistry Superintendent ensures that instructions provided from daily meetings are integrated into the Chemistry schedule and that equipment problems are identified and addressed appropriately.

The Chemistry Superintendent ensures data is trended, and significant trends are immediately identified and disclosed to the SFAM, CFAM, and site management. The Chemistry Superintendent also works cross-functionally with other CFAMs and SFAMs to address cross-cutting issues involving multiple departments.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

The Chemistry Superintendent position requires extensive experience in nuclear plant chemistry, plant systems, and data management. The Chemistry Superintendent must have strong supervisory skills, supervisory experience, and must demonstrate a clear understanding of and the ability to apply skills in each of the above areas, and more importantly to directly supervise individuals performing these tasks. The Chemistry Superintendent must have general knowledge of the governance and oversight mechanisms required to successfully operate Chemistry programs at nuclear power plants.

Hands‑on experience at an operating nuclear plant or plant under construction managing a Chemistry program is very important and outstanding oral and written communication skills are required. The Chemistry Superintendent must be able to interact at all levels of the organization, including strong working knowledge of covered position requirements and management of shift work.

Specifically, the Chemistry Superintendent must have a minimum of:

  • Five (5) years’ experience with Chemistry programs at a nuclear power plant
  • Supervisory experience with demonstrated proficiency in Chemistry and experience in management or supervision of ANSI qualified technicians
  • Demonstrated working level knowledge of Chemistry programs
  • Demonstrated knowledge of CEI, Action Levels and application of the EPRI Guideline documents.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to ALARA
  • Clear understanding of INPO principles and the ability to apply these principles
  • Strong financial skills and the ability to manage complex, multi‑site budgets
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills and the ability to make presentations to all levels of the organization
  • Strong work ethic and the desire to lead by example
  • Strong understanding and ability to use computer applications Nuclear

    IQ, CDAS, Lab Stats, Maximo, and Primavera for fleet applications
  • Ability to interact effectively with external groups including regulators, industry groups and peers
  • Commitment to Target Zero and workplace safety

This position will be assigned to a position within the Emergency Response Organization (ERO). Selected candidate must live within one hour of the SNC Emergency Operations Facility for emergency response availability.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

In addition to the above, the Chemistry Superintendent must provide direction to Chemistry Supervisors to ensure effective implementation of governance and oversight to ensure world class performance of day‑to‑day activities, drive standardization, and ensure program excellence for the SNC Fleet.
