Custodian / 8 Hours Daily

Lee Middle School

$14.28 an hour while on Probation

• To provide students and staff with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient environment in which to work and learn.
• Keep building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways and play areas neat, clean and safe at all times.
• Perform essential building care such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, waxing floors; cleaning blinds, window glass, light fixtures, walls, carpet, restrooms and other spaces within a school facility.
• Sweep classrooms and empty waste containers daily.
• Cleans corridors after school each day and during the day when their condition requires it.
• Scrub and disinfect restrooms and floors daily.
• Cleans all sanitary fixtures daily.
• Check equipment and facility daily and report any damage immediately to the principal.
• Work on the school premises during scheduled hours and remain on the school premises during periods when the principal authorizes use of the building for special purposes.
• Move furniture and equipment within buildings as required for various activities, as directed by the lead custodian or principal.
• Comply with local laws, ordinances, and regulations for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste.
• Comply with any reasonable oral or written directive given by the lead custodian, principal, or other administrator.
• Excellent attendance and punctuality are required.
• Other duties as assigned by lead and/or administrators.

• Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent.

• Ability to establish and maintain efficient working relations with other employees and school system personnel; ability to perform the physical requirements of custodial and light maintenance duties including lifting 20lbs or more without assistance, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing a ladder; ability to learn repetitive tasks and perform them under supervision; working knowledge of methods and materials essential to good housekeeping and sanitation practices.
