The maintenance helper will ensure Health & Safety standards are met by complying with legislation, company policies, and promoting a safe work environment. The helper will assist with maintenance and repair of railcars, preparing cars for necessary maintenance and repair, and performing maintenance work. The helper will also handle necessary paperwork and communicate maintenance needs to management. The helper will maintain a clean work environment, keep and turn in required paperwork for maintenance needs, parts and service work orders, invoices, and safety documentation.

The helper may perform a wide range of duties and help wherever needed.

Must be able to lift 50 pounds alone and stand for a good part of the day. The work is in a covered shop, dusty, noisy, involving walking, bending, stooping, lifting, and working in awkward positions. Hazards include working around machinery. Overtime and occasional weekends may be required.

• High School diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Minimum of 1 year in the maintenance field.
• Familiarity with MSHA regulations (preferred).
• Experience in welding, acetylene cutting, fabrication and plumbing (preferred).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
