Position SummaryThe Overnight Operations Manager oversees all resort operations during the overnight shift, ensuring a seamless guest experience and smooth transition between day and night teams. This position combines night audit responsibilities with supervisory oversight of front-line departments after hours, including Front Desk, Security, and Housekeeping. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and confident making independent decisions while maintaining the resort’s standards of service, safety, and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the manager on duty overnight, handling guest requests, concerns, and emergencies with professionalism and urgency.
- Oversee front desk operations, including check-ins, check-outs, and room assignments.
- Monitor resort facilities to ensure cleanliness, safety, and readiness for the following day’s operations.
- Coordinate with overnight housekeeping and security to address maintenance or safety issues promptly.
- Complete the night audit process: balance daily transactions, reconcile accounts, and generate required financial and occupancy reports.
- Review and verify postings, room charges, and folios for accuracy.
- Supervise overnight staff, providing directions, coaching, and support as needed.
- Conduct nightly property walkthroughs of public spaces and back-of-house areas.
- Uphold and enforce resort policies, safety standards, and emergency procedures.
- Responsible for obtaining coverage of the front desk when callouts cause staffing shortage, including reporting to work when not scheduled if unable to locate sufficient coverage.
- Experience:
Minimum 2 years in front office or night audit roles; prior supervisory experience in hospitality strongly preferred. - Skills:
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities; high level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism. - Technical:
Proficiency with property management systems (e.g., Opera, Maestro, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite; basic accounting or audit knowledge a plus. - Schedule:
Must be available to work overnight hours, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours per shift).
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds occasionally (such as luggage, supplies, or equipment).
- Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, and twisting as job duties require.
- Must be able to use hands and fingers to operate computer keyboards, phones, and other office or front desk equipment.
- Ability to visually inspect property areas, including guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas, during property walk-throughs.
- Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Requires alertness and mobility throughout the property during overnight hours.
- Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, occasionally exposed to varying weather conditions.
- This position primarily operates overnight and requires flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and special events as business levels demand.
- Work is performed in a hotel and office environment, with regular movement throughout guest areas, public spaces, and back-of-house facilities.
- The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate, though occasional exposure to higher noise levels may occur during events or maintenance activities.
- May occasionally be required to perform or assist with physical tasks, such as moving equipment, restocking supplies, or responding to operational needs during the night shift.
- Exposure to varying indoors and outdoor temperatures may occur during property inspections or emergency response situations.
- Overnight team members may work independently for portions of the shift and must remain alert and responsive to guest and property needs at all times.
