The Associate Director of Banquets upholds and delivers Forbes Five-Star standards while overseeing all banquet operations to ensure flawless event execution and memorable guest experiences. You are an enthusiastic, positive role model, motivating the team by promoting the Sea Island tradition of genuine hospitality, ensuring distinctive and unique experiences. You create an atmosphere of anticipatory service as you design and execute delightful experiences for our guests and members.

Through hands‑on supervision and clear communication, you foster a culture where team members feel supported, heard, and genuinely appreciated. Your responsibilities include the thoughtful supervision of Banquet Captains and team members, as you direct activities for quality and service that embrace our superior standards with warmth and camaraderie. You lead with a guest‑centric mindset—anticipating needs, resolving challenges with professionalism, and elevating every touchpoint of the event experience.

With a strong command of logistics and financial accuracy, the Associate Director is responsible for creating and managing requisitions, protecting and maintaining banquet equipment, and ensuring proper inventory return and care. You maintain thorough knowledge of all applicable liquor laws and service standards, actively limiting liability through safe and responsible alcohol service. Precise accounting of guest counts, billing details, and charges is essential, ensuring every event is accurately documented and properly reconciled.

You control and drive all financial aspects of your events including effective team leadership, maximizing revenue, expenditure control and labor efficiency. You provide input and always support changes or modifications to any departmental procedures, standards, and programs that are key to meeting departmental safety, staffing and financial goals.

You provide meaningful feedback and coaching as you thoughtfully supervise team members, directing activities for quality and service that embrace our superior standards with warmth and camaraderie. You lead staff development, including the selection and training of new team members, evaluations, coaching and recognition of the current team.

You ensure that your leaders work closely with Human Resources to obtain, train and retain exceptional team members.

You live & share your passion for genuine hospitality in your commitment to our vision, mission, and values. You set the tone with your strong ethics and by consistently upholding and ensuring compliance with departmental procedures, including standards for quality, timing, attendance, and appearance. You embrace the spirit of Gracious Hospitality and form effective relationships and work closely with all resort departments to maintain rapport and foster open communication.

By fostering strong cross‑departmental partnerships with culinary, sales, events, and operations, the Associate Director ensures seamless collaboration and consistently successful events from planning through execution.

You set the tone by consistently upholding and ensuring compliance with departmental procedures, including standards for safety, quality, timing, attendance, and appearance. You and your team take pride in making sure all work areas are sparkling clean, safe, and well organized. You and your team maintain a thorough knowledge of current services, amenities, activities, dining options, shops, local attractions, and historical information regarding Sea Island and the surrounding area.

You are generous with your support and help resolve any service issues that arise in a timely and positive way while coordinating necessary efforts through the appropriate departments and consistently follow‑up to ensure resolution. You always lead and act with a service‑first mindset stepping beyond defined responsibilities when needed to ensure that we are enriching the lives of our team, members and guests.
