Dietary Aide
Join to apply for the Dietary Aide role Health Care is seeking a Full-Time Dietary Aid that will be a strong asset to our team.
General
Purpose:
Performs various duties associated with the production and service of patient meals.
Responsible To:
Dietary Manager / Assistant Dietary Manager / Cook.
- Demonstrate qualities of being a self-starter and make independent decisions when necessary.
- Assist in maintaining the dietary department in a safe, secure, and sanitary manner and report problems to the Dietary Manager.
- Use good judgment to conserve supplies and prevent food waste; report needs to the Dietary Manager.
- Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies; date, label, and store items properly.
- Scrape, stack, wash, and sanitize dishes, flatware, utensils, pots/pans; remove broken and chipped dishes and glassware from use.
- Properly transport and store dishes and utensils; ensure sufficient quantities of clean dishes for meal prep and service.
- Clean and sanitize the dish machine and dish room; keep work area clean.
- Assist cook in preparing and serving foods for all diets, including therapeutic diets, according to planned menus.
- Communicate and cooperate with staff, patients, and families.
- Set up trays for service, sort diet cards and selective menus; serve trays on tray line; check trays for accuracy of diets and quality before delivery.
- Bus tables in dining room; clean/sanitize table tops.
- Attend in-service and other necessary training.
- When Director of Dietary, Dietary Manager, and Assistant Dietary Manager are absent, provide supervision in the Dietary Department.
- Adhere to the dress code for the department.
- Perform other tasks as necessary and appropriate.
- Interests in food service and enjoy working with geriatric and other healthcare patients.
- Willing to learn food preparation and simple cooking skills.
- Knowledge or willingness to learn therapeutic and modified diet information.
- Knowledge or willingness to learn correct sanitation procedures.
- Willing to perform repetitive tasks daily.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Follow oral and/or written instructions.
- Speak and understand English; may be required to have reading skills.
- Read and understand labels on chemicals and MSDS sheets and use products safely and correctly.
- In good mental and physical condition.
- Work cooperatively and productively with all partners in Dietary and in all departments.
- Willing to fulfill responsibilities; punctual and on time.
- May be required to obtain Food Handlers Certificate or Sanitation Course, as required by state regulations.
- Work under supervision.
- Be on feet standing or walking most of the working day; bend, stoop, squat, and twist numerous times daily.
- Lift 50-60 pounds, sweep and mop floors, push/pull carts; climb safety ladders to perform cleaning, storage, or other duties.
- Perform fine motor skills and manual dexterity requirements.
- Possess mental acuity high enough to adequately perform job requirements.
- See and hear adequately to respond to auditory and visual requests from patients and staff.
- Handle and use all food service equipment of standard height and design used in food preparation, service, and cleanliness.
- Taste and smell foods to determine quality and palatability.
- Withstand changes of extreme temperatures while working around ranges in kitchens or entering walk-in freezer; work in noisy room with warm, moist, and odorous atmosphere.
- Alert and work safely and cautiously to avoid cuts and burns while working with kitchen equipment; avoid falls on or near wet and slippery floors.
- No medical conditions which would endanger self or others in the Dietary Department or during patient contact.

Pay: $16.00-$16.00 per hour.
