Description
:
The Georgia Department of Public Health, District 2 Public Health, Environmental Health Services provides public health programs and services across fourteen counties in northeast Georgia. The district serves diverse communities and aims to protect lives and promote healthy lifestyles.

Responsibilities
  • EH Specialist 4:
    Under limited supervision, functions as a technical specialist for Environmental Health; performs inspections, interviews, and technical reviews; investigates complaints and recommends enforcement actions as necessary; provides Environmental Health education and technical assistance to the public and regulated community; implements local and district programs for compliance, monitoring, evaluation, enforcement, and corrective action in line with Environmental Health laws and regulations; serves as the compliance officer and primary liaison between Public Health Agency, regulated facilities, and other agencies;

    interprets regulatory, technical, and analytical data to document compliance; serves as a lead worker and technical specialist for the Environmental Health Program within the county; serves as the Rabies Control Officer for the County.
  • EH Specialist 5:
    Under limited supervision, functions as a technical specialist for Environmental Health; performs inspections, interviews, and technical reviews; investigates complaints and enforces actions as necessary; provides Education and technical assistance; implements local and district programs for compliance, monitoring, evaluation, enforcement, and corrective action; serves as the compliance officer and liaison; interprets regulatory and technical data to document compliance; acts as a lead worker and Rabies Control Officer;

    responsible for County EH operations and supervision of staff.
Trainings and Additions
  • Attendance and completion of the GA EH training program
  • Completion of level I and II Certification in the On-Site Sewage Management System Program
  • Completion of NIMS courses 100, 200, 700, and 800
  • Completion of NIMS 300/400 or achieve within one year of hire as EHS 4
  • Completion of Customer Service training
  • Supervises a staff of two or more as EH Manager/Supervisor over a County
Minimum Qualifications

EHS 4 Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university which included at least 40 quarter hours, 27 semester hours of laboratory sciences; and 1 year experience as or equivalent to EHS 3

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of Standardization on the GA Food Code
  • Serv Safe certified
  • Experience with Rabies Control Program requirements

EHS 5 Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Environmental Health, Public Health or related field from an accredited college or university; OR a bachelor’s degree with 27 semester hours (40 quarter hours) of laboratory science and current registration as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist or Sanitarian; and 1 year experience as an EHS IV (or equivalent)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of Standardization on the GA Food Code
  • Serv Safe certified
  • Experience with Rabies Control Program requirements
