Your day as an Individual Support Worker

As a Part Time Individual Support Worker at Owen Health Care, you will play a pivotal role in assisting behavioral therapists to create effective behavioral therapy programs tailored to children and adolescents. Your responsibilities include:

  • Implement individualized service plans;
  • Provide behavioral interventions in home and community settings;
  • Actively manage youth with behavioral challenges;
  • Develop and initiate safety standards while instructing youth on positive behavioral practices;
  • Monitor and document observations of youth behavior and modify daily activities to align with therapeutic goals;
  • Develop and implement engaging recreational activities that support the emotional and social growth of the youth.

To excel as an Individual Support Worker at Owen Health Care Inc., candidates must possess:

  • A college degree with one year of work experience or a minimum of a High School Diploma/GED and three years of supervised experience in implementing positive behavior support plans and teaching ADL/Instrumental skills to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • The ability to work independently while following established protocols and guidelines;
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for working with children and adolescents in a supportive and nurturing manner;
  • Prior experience in behavioral interventions and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
