Referral Coordinator / Medical Assistant at Coastal Health Blackshear GA is currently seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and career-driven individual to join our growing practice. This role is ideal for a Medical Assistant who is experienced in patient care, referral coordination, and insurance verification
, and who enjoys supporting both clinical and administrative functions in a fast-paced medical office.
- Greet, direct, and assist patients and visitors in person and via phone or electronic communication.
- Perform Medical Assistant duties, including assisting providers with patient care and clinical workflows.
- Coordinate inbound and outbound referrals, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Serve as a liaison between patients, providers, insurance companies, and specialist offices.
- Schedule patient appointments and referrals based on medical necessity and provider direction.
- Verify insurance eligibility, obtain authorizations, process co-payments, and manage referral inquiries.
- Maintain accurate patient records through electronic and paper systems.
- Support patient flow by coordinating appointments, referrals, and follow-up care.
- Assist with medical records management, filing, and documentation.
- Provide clerical and administrative support and interface with multiple departments as needed.
- Certified or experienced Medical Assistant required.
- Strong experience with referrals, insurance verification, authorizations, and medical office workflows.
- Knowledge of EHR systems and medical documentation.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Patient-focused with a professional and compassionate demeanor.
- Minimum 1-3 years experience in a medical office preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Customer service skills.
