Overview
COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER – E911
Full-Time
$18.49 per hour – Non-Certified
$19.71 per hour – Certified
- Receive emergency and non-emergency calls to the communications center.
- Monitor police, fire, and EMS radio; provide information; answer questions and/or refer callers to appropriate staff for non-emergency and emergency situations.
- Receive calls for Animal Control; validate 911 address information.
- Log incoming calls and dispatch information into the CAD system; maintain records of incoming calls and dispatching activities; assign case numbers to calls.
- Dispatch sheriff, EMS, and fire units; dispatch wrecker service; notifies Coroner, State Troopers, Investigators, Funeral Homes, and Fire Marshals as needed; advise field units of information.
- Disseminate criminal and driver records; maintain various records, logs, and files; perform various clerical support activities; inquire and enter information through GCIC/NCIC computer.
- Must be 18 years old.
- Pass extensive criminal history background check.
- High school diploma or GED;
- Must multi-task in a busy, hectic & stressful environment.
- Must be able to become GA P.O.S.T. certified basic communications officer within 6 months of hire date. Must become certified and maintain certification as an emergency medical dispatcher and GCIC terminal operator.
